I FINALLY MADE MY LEMON CURD
I have always been a little scared of making things like home made pudding...I usually stick to the boxed stuff. Considering I'm going to be going to culinary school I guess that's pretty sad. But I was finally able to find a great video on YouTube.com Guatemala showed and easy way of making lemon CURD. Now I've made it twice with no problems at all.

Making Lemon Curd from LIFE'S LEMONS!
As my previous post stated I have discovered that my plans for attending Le Cordon Bleu for a Patisary and Baking degree is just not going to pan out.
The past week I won't lie, I have been devastated! I have been totally upset with the way that things worked out and the reasons why they did end. But, I can't live upset all the time...so as it was said to me before "TIME FOR PLAN B!"
So here it is. I'll still obviously be attending Culinary Arts school here in RGV untill God opens up whatever other doors that he has for me.
But until then...I'm doing a little experiment!
As some of you have seen the movie before I'm sure that you get where I'm going with this. tee hee hee!
In the movie Julie spends a year of her life going through the ups and downs of replication every recipe, in Julia Child's cook book, "the Joy of Cooking".
After wallowing my sorrows away with late night movies I caught the end of this movie that I hadn't seen in quite some time...and it inspired me. Also, two days after finding out that I wasn't going to go, I had a package at my front door. It was the book that I had previously ordered (before the bad news). After getting over the shock and remembering that I had indeed ordered this and it wasn't just a sick joke...IT HIT ME! Not the book...an idea!
The book I ordered is all about the special techniques used to make spectacular works of art from pastries, breads, fruits, custards and so much more.
So here is the plan. I'm giving myself a deadline. I'm not sure exactly how long but I'll post that later...I'm going to make EVERY DESERT in this book! Now, I know that there are way less deserts in this book than in the Joy of Cooking...but I like to set obtainable goals...lol!
Since, its right around spring and some fruits are not quite in season yet I'll be skipping around in the book a little and head back to the first chapter covering frutis as they come into season, so that I can get the best tasting deserts.
So, this is my plan to take the lemons that life has given me and make lemon curd! (lol)
Since, today was the last class of the week and the start of my Spring Break, I figured this was the perfect time to start. I'm going to try and spread them out...because if I made a desert a night, Peter and I would be as big as a house by the end of this challenge! So, when I know the schedule of how long I'm going to do this and how it breaks down I'll post that...in the mean time I have set my sits on 3 deserts to start.
Custards Poached Pears
And Choux Pastry
I have made Choux Pastry before so I think that is where I'll start.
I'll update you all on what happens and how this whole challenge is going as I go!
Challenge Day starts today!
